40 Days for Life Kick off Event
  • Saturday, September 14. 6:00pm-7:30pm.
  • Location: St. Mary’s Church Hall. Iowa City. 
  • Learn more about 40 Days for Life Prayer Vigil
  • Purpose: Receive prayer vigil resources and pro-life information. Free taco buffet! 

Pro-Life Student Event
  • When: Tuesday, September 24. 6:00pm-7:00pm
  • Located: Newman Multipurpose Room
  • Speaker Event: Hayley Abdo (Maternal Health Nurse with Johnson County
  • Public Health), and Students for Life Club
  • Learn more about resources that support women in crisis in our area. Additionally, come hear about the 40 days for life movement! Free pizza provided!

40 Days for Life Prayer Vigil
  • 8:00am- 8:00pm every day from September 25- November 3.
  • Located: Sidewalk in front of the Emma Goldman Clinic

40 Days for Life Event
  • Tuesday, October 8. 3:00pm-4:30pm. 
  • Speaker: Dr Haywood Robinson (former abortionist turned pro-life advocate)
  • Join us for prayer outside of the Emma Goldman clinic, followed by the speaker event at St. Mary’s church hall. Free refreshments!

Shelter House 
  • Wednesday, October 23. 6:00-7:00pm.
  • Speaker: Aaron Terrones
  • Located: Newman MPR
  •  Join us to learn more about how to outreach and encounter those in need.

Christian Healthcare Ethics Seminar
  • Wednesday, November 13. 6:00pm-7:30pm.
  • Speaker Event: Dr. Kaldjian 
  • Located: Lower MPR (basement of the Newman Center)
  • Learn about ethical topics that arise in healthcare because of our Catholic Faith.

Ronald McDonald House
  • Saturday, November 16.
  • Located: Ronald McDonald House in Iowa City
  • Help prepare a spaghetti dinner at the Ronald McDonald house.
Nursing Home Visits
  • Fridays from 3:30pm-4:30pm
  • Location: Lantern Park Specialty Care
  • Purpose: Visit residents and build connections with the senior population at the nursing home

Rosary Walk/Praying Outside of Emma Goldman Clinic
  • Thursdays from 8:30am-9:00am
  • Location: Meet at the Newman Center and walk to Emma Goldman
  • Purpose: Pray that through the intercession of Our Mother abortion will become illegal

​Patron Saint: St. Gianna Molla

St. Gianna was a doctor, wife and mother. Her heroic virtue, genuine holiness of life, selflessness, and quiet joy remind all of us that God entrusts us with a personal vocation. During her last pregnancy, St. Gianna had health problems that impacted her and the baby. St. Gianna chose to continue her pregnancy even though it meant that her life was at risk. She gave her life for her child.
