COVID-19 Pandemic - Update to Protocols August 11, 2021
The current surge in COVID-19 infections - driven by the Delta variant - is worsening. Iowa is considered a “high” transmission state, and all of our counties are experiencing “high” or “substantial” transmission regularly. Because of this surge, the Diocese of Davenport has asked that the following safety measures be put into place beginning this weekend…
We urge that masks be worn by everyone (over the age of 2) at any indoor gathering or public space, including the liturgy. At the liturgy, masks must be worn by those distributing communion.
Parishes should return to social distancing measures, in a manner that works best for their community.
Congregational singing is temporarily suspended. A single, masked and vaccinated cantor may be used.
We have sanitizer stations at each entrance and ask that you please use this upon entering. We hope that these changes will be short-lived. Thank you for your cooperation.
From the City of Iowa City: Mayor Bruce Teague has issued an order that, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the spread of the Delta variant, every person in the City of Iowa City must wear a face covering when in a public space. The order will take effect at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021. The order will expire on Sept. 30, 2021, unless otherwise extended. More information HERE.
