Academic Scholarships
Each year the Newman Catholic Student Center awards scholarships to Catholic undergraduate and graduate students attending The University of Iowa who are involved at the Newman Catholic Student Center. Incoming freshmen are not eligible for these scholarships. We are able to offer up to ten scholarships each academic year. Applications are available in the spring for the following academic year.

Athletic Scholarships
Through the generosity of numerous benefactors, Newman Center established a fund through The University of Iowa Center for Advancement for two annual partial scholarships to be awarded to one male and one female student-athlete involved at the Newman Center. The selection process, with registration and participation at the Newman Center as a focal point, is conducted by the UI Athletic Department.

Abbey Klostermann, Class of 2024, a junior majoring in Biology is a recipient of the 2022 Newman Center Catholic Student-Athlete Scholarship. A graduate of Assumption High in Davenport, Abbey says the Newman Center is nice as it is a great place to put into practice her faith, which was part of the curriculum in high school. She says that balancing academics, athletics, and her faith can be a challenge, but she has an amazing support staff and incorporates her faith life into her athletics, "I give all glory and honor to God when I perform, it is all for Him." Abbey is the daughter of Bryon and Dana Klostermann.
Goeres/Beckman Scholarships

Annually, up to twenty scholarships of $1000 are given to Beckman Catholic graduates who are active in the Newman Catholic Student Center. The purpose of the scholarship program is to help Beckman graduates continue to grow in their faith by participating in the Newman Center faith community. Recipients participate in on-campus Newman Center programs while pursuing their academic degree at the UI. Former Xavier (now Beckman Catholic) High and UI graduate,
